How mesmerizing are those half double crochet and slip stitch rounds 😭 Forget putting a glass on top.. I just want to stare at these all day!

In all seriousness though.. the slip stitch rounds add a great layer of thickness to the coasters to help protect your table surfaces, and they are wide enough for larger glasses and mugs!
These coasters work up really fast, and are great for people who enjoy patterns with lots of repetition.

Materials needed:
- US sz G (4 mm) crochet hook
- Approximately 18 yards (10g) of any worsted weight yarn for each coaster (I used Caron All Day Cotton Yarn in the color Light Gray)
Abbreviations:
- Ch-chain
- Hdc-half double crochet
- Rep-repeat
- Sl st-slip stitch
- St(s)-stitch(es)
Skill Rating:

Finished size:
One coaster is approximately 4” in diameter
Tips:
- Pattern is worked in the round, so do not turn work after each row
- ch-1 at beginning of round does NOT count as a st throughout the pattern
Pattern:
Make a magic circle

Round 1: ch 1, 10 hdc into the magic circle, sl st to join with the first hdc of the round (10 hdc)


Round 2: Sl st into each hdc to the end of the round, sl st again in the first hdc of round 1



Round 3: ch 1, 2 hdc in each hdc from round 1 (the same hdc you slip stitched into), sl st to join with the first hdc of the round (20 hdc)


Round 4: Sl st into each hdc to the end of the round, sl st again in the first hdc of round 3

Round 5: ch 1, *1 hdc, 2 hdc, rep from * to the end of the round, sl st to join with the first hdc of the round (30 hdc)

Round 6: Sl st into each hdc to the end of the round, sl st again in the first hdc of round 5

Round 7: ch 1, * 1 hdc in the next two sts, 2 hdc in the next st, rep from * to the end of the round, sl st to join with the first hdc of the round (40 hdc)

Round 8: Sl st into each hdc to the end of the round, sl st again in the first hdc of round 7

Round 9: ch 1, * 1 hdc in the next three sts, 2 hdc in the next st, rep from * to the end of the round, sl st to join with the first hdc of the round (50 hdc)

Round 10: Sl st into each hdc to the end of the round, sl st again in the first hdc of round 9, fasten off. Weave in ends.
